Grammichele (CT), Italia built 1997
Radiology medical centre

The project faces the problem of the inner re-modeling of a semi-detached building, built at the end of the nineteenth century just out of the seventeenth century hexagonal structure of the town. Therefore, the project theme was to try and save the unity of the room although the necessary adding of the new service volume. We tried to keep and underline the continuum among the hip vault, the walls and the floor, by projecting the waiting room furnishings and the new volume as a big piece of furniture made up of different parts. So, the wooden bathroom ceiling found its shape and position through a process of metamorphosis that turned it into a skylight-lamp, bench, panel for medical reports and, lastly, also into a reception desk.
